November 2000 -- By Jill Gallagher

PBA is still looking for some players. It you have ideas on how PBA can become the best ever we need to hear from you. At the moment we need a Newsletter Editor or a Guest Newsletter Editor. A Guest Editor would put together the Newsletter one time and have fun doing it. We also need someone that would like to train to be the registrar. And Cathy Hubbard needs someone to finish her Board Member time frame that ends in 2002. You will find the Job Duties of a Board Member in this issue. If interested step right up and contact me, I love hearing from one and all.

Lisa Roskopf is doing a wonderful job on the PBA Web site. She has added the members that are in the Breeders Book and if you like what you see, you also can get onto that page. Just send in your information on the form you will find in this issue, with the proper money, and you to will be on that page. What a great way to get your ranch, animals, and fiber out to people all over the world. Also she is putting pictures on the site as well, so send yours to her. Good Job Lisa!

Last time I asked what you were all doing to keep your farm safe, I still would love to know. Are you using dogs, llamas, donkeys or / and tall fences. Drop me a line. Even if it didn’t work, we all learn from each other and you could help save a life or help a first time fence builder with your expertise.

Winter, this year, started off real cold. I have two old timer Pygoras that each year I wonder if they will make it to see the next year. Last year was real hard on the old girl Lacy. She was 11 then and having problems walking and keeping the weight on. But this year she is doing great. I stopped breeding her last year, which also might have helped her. She always births triplets and after 9 years of triplets, I think, it was getting to her. The other old timer is Dusty my 13 year old buck. He rolled over the other day and couldn’t get up. But once we got him up, he went over and started eating dinner, like no big deal. I do watch for their quality of life to drop and then I would put them down, but until then, they are a big part of the ranch and we will feed and care for them to the end.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season and I look forward to what 2001 will bring PBA next year.
