Message from the President November 2002 -- By Jill Gallagher Hard hats, that is what is needed if you come to visit me. Hard Hats! We are having a great crop of valley oak acorns dropping down on us, sounding like rifle blasts on the house roof. And very hurtful when one hits you on the head. But the goats, horses and deer love them and can hear them fall and race off to find it like a wonderful sought out treasure, better then candy. Acorns are on the poison list of things not to feed your goat. My goats have been eating them since they were kids. But we don’t feed them other then what falls, and we never put them in a pen that has a tree full of acorns on the ground. I would also never go looking for them to feed the goats, but they do love them. Acorns, bucks in rut (pee-uw), shearing, vaccinations, hoofs and raking leaves- who needs to go to the gym? And PBA is also very busy, busy, busy…Last issue, I mentioned some of the many changes on the board and officers and what we have been working on. Well this quarter we have been doing much more. Just an idea of what has been happening- read a little further: The Judges Training Packet for one is DONE… Ya! Thank you Chris Utterback for chairing this and writing this packet up over a number of times to get it just so…You can find the application on the PBA web site and I believe in this issue. If you don’t think you are interested in becoming a judge, the packet is still a wonderful teaching tool to learn more about the Pygora. So I hope you all send for a packet. Janet Hanus’s committee is busy going over the Grant Applications. Those were due last September, so if you missed it, the next due date is September 2003, so put it on your calendar. Susan Prechtl’s committee is busy reworking the By-laws, if you have any thoughts on a change for the By-laws, drop her a note. And our wonderful Web master, Lisa Roskopf has been busy updating all the changes to forms, officers, addresses, etc… Please all help her out, if you see something that we missed in the changes or a form that doesn’t download, please contact her. We want this web site to work well and be most helpful to all that view it and use it. VOTES needed of the membership on a few changes on the Breed Standard. The changes are minimum- but the board does need the memberships ok, on those changes. So please help us out and vote. If you have any questions on the changes, please contact a board member or me and we will help with the answers. It is time again for the applications for board members. We have the board elections staggered as to not replace the whole board at one time. If you are interested, please send in your application, I believe we will have a duty statement of a Board Member in this issue, if not, contact me, and I will get you a copy. Well
this is just a few of the many items your officers and board has been up
to. Please contact us if you see anyway we can help make PBA better and
if you would like to be included in the board meetings. Please contact
me before the meeting starts so I can add your e-mail address to the
list. The next meeting will start December 4, 2002, with agenda items
due on December 2. Got to go chase those leaves…bye. Jill pbajill@hhollow.com
